All goth bands use echo and reverb don't they? (I should know, I was in one!)
Do you want the Nephs to sound like AC/DC or something? :?

"A longer reverb can result in a loss of clarity"

I have no comment on the AC/DC thing as they are possibly the top selling band in the world.

If I recall, of FOTNs albums, much of the music is very clear and not over processed. FOTN have very nice keys and ambiant backing tracks on the albums , that I feel account for a lot of the music's atmospheric quality, that also tend to get buried in some of the live mixes as well. IMO.

I love the Neph music but frankly life is too short and money too tight to travel a long distance for a 60 minute set. Carl must be trying to woo the metalheads with these shows but I would have thought he is better concentrating on other types of festival or dedicated shows if he really wants to attract more followers. FOTN was always too ambient to appeal to the metal fraternity (how boring they would find most of Elizium) so he has to decide if this partial resurrection of the band is a Zoon/Nefilim thing or true to the origianl Neph spirit. It would also be nice if he was more open in deciding whether this is just a hobby or whether he is going to do it properly with a decent tour and new material before he needs to eat pureed food. Now I'm off to listen to Earth Inferno to remind me of happy times gone by................

Well I enjoyed the whole festival and thought we were lucky with the weather.

Nice to bump into a few of you when popping between stages, Nephs fans certainly stood out.

Don't agree with those calling it a metal festival though. There were stacks of hardcore bands and lots of stoner bands on the Terrorizer stage Sat and Sun. Punk from Discharge, Doom, Jello B. Industrial from Godflesh and Young Gods as well as Tantrum a surprise EBM discovery from France.

My one real complaint was that the sound in the tent where FOTN played was not always loud enough and this did have an impact on performances from Watain and Marduk in particular.

Dawnrazor and Chord Of Souls were highlights for me as do not get opportunity to travel around and see the band as much as some of you.

The Nephilim (especially since the Nefilim) has always been the metalheads' favorite side dish, next to their typical heavy-thrash-death-black metal diet. But it's not the metal fans who made the Nephilim big in the first place. Nor the ones who kept the spirit of the band alive when our dear Carl chose to vanish until his recent resurrection. Afterall "goth" is just a label, but I guess most Nephilim (and not Nefilim) fans feel comfortable with it. Don't get me wrong, it's ok that the band appeals to metal fans, but Fields is not a metal band. It's like going to a spaghetti restaurant and ask for a steak. Just because they might get you the steak, it doesn't mean it's a steak-house now. They still make spaghetti in this restaurant. The best around *cthulhu*

Surely the point is for the band to have appeal to as many people as possible.
So playing at metal festivals and goth festivals it's all good exposure.
They crossover into both genres to varying degrees wether some like that fact or not.
