"Taxi: There are taxi stops at the four terminals in the arrival area. The approximate cost between Barajas Airport and Madrid and the center of Madrid (Puerta del Sol for example) usually is about 20€ PLUS THE 4.50€ airport tax. Luggage and companion animal (in proper travel case) transport is always free. It is recommended not to go with strangers that sometimes offer services from inside the airport. The taxi fare is always indicated on the taxi meter in the cab, and it is unadvisable (and illegal) to make a deal on a “closed price” with the taxi driver. The trip between the airport and the city center can vary between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic and the time of day. The taxi is the most comfortable transportation between the airport and the city center, especially when travelling with luggage and not knowing how to arrive at one’s destination".

Hostal Oliver sounds pretty good to me. Still need to find a good (=cheap) hostel in Barcelona. Or would someone like to share a hotel room? I take up very little space, I don't snore or walk in my sleep :D

All commenteed by ZEV is ok and very clear.....he also lives in Madrid, (verdad tipo calladito, gracias tío), heheehhee.
no more comments then...I think that if you have time, from airport better use the Metro, in Madrid is very good.

Tell me when you arrive and i want to be with all of you from Friday morning to help you and visit the most important places in the city.

Hugs.

The metro is the best bet to get from the airport into the centre, as Bimu says. It's only 1 euro....and with taxi drivers you never know what you're going to get

As for drinkies before the gig, this place is just round the corner from the venue and has lots of varieties of beer:

Hi everyone,

I am pretty much set (and very excited!) to go to both gigs. As I've mentioned before, and any of you at the Birmingham gig that weren't totally drunk would remember (OK, maybe no one! ), I'm in a wheelchair, so I expect I need to contact the venues to let them know I'm coming. I've checked the venues websites for accessibility information, but couldn't find any specific details beyond generic contact e-mail addresses ( for "pepoperandones", and "buzon"). Could any of you Spanish Dawnrazors advise me about the venues?

Michael.
(did I mention I'm very excited? :D )

Hi there,
Some good news for you: I have just phoned both venues...

- Sala heineken: they have full accesibility
- Sala Bikini: they have a ramp and an elevator and claim to have full accesibility.

If you want to double check, you can find both telephone numbers below:

Sala heineken Madrid: (Tlf. 0034 915475711).
Sala Bikini/ BCN (Tlf. 0034 93 322 08 00).

The dream will come... *smoking*

- As someone posted here before: DO NOT TAKE A CAB! those bastards will waste your time & their fares are way too expensive.

- If any of you still need more info about anything (in Madrid), just let me know. I work right next to the Heineken venue so I can ask for prices, rooms, drinks, places, numbers, maps, means of transport ... whatever it is that you need. For Barcelona - ask Harmonica Man.

@Ozathoth: my dear Goff! coming from Oz to Spain??? you're my hero!

Please let me know when the tickets will become available via internet...
Also a cheaper hotel will be great but I think I can find something, too, I'm already checking just in case!

Madrid, not yet. I've sent them an email today, but they have no idea at the moment.

cheers

Dont worry we will tell you when Madrid tickets are available. Probably will not sell all tickets for any concerts.

Those web are well for search the flight. Personally i prefer with Iberia, but is about 60 euros madrid-barcelona with return included.
