Let the countdown commence *cthulhu*

The train Moonchild says is AVE (High speed), about 3h30' from madrid to Barcelona but there are anothers cheaper trains and buses, but then we are talking about 7-8h for this travel. Definitely the best option is the plane, which is very cheap cause in Spain this route is established for many years as "puente aereo" (airlift).

About the hotels, whatever near the venue is OK, you must to know that this is just the center of the city (Gran Via, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Callao) and the prices aren't cheap but there are a lot of posibilities.

Before book in a hotel if you want, i can tell you about.

Right, flights booked......cant find tickets on ticketmaster tho......where have folk booked them?

Need help with accomodation. Anyone fancy sharing a room??

Been looking at Hostal Oliver - 30 meters from Plaza Del Sol and Plaza Mayor (€32 a night) Is this in the right area??

How far is the airport from here?

Help, anyone?

The airport is about 1 hour away (by metro) from Puerta del Sol. You can take the metro in "Sol" or "Callao" to get to the airport, but you would need to change lines a couple of times.

Hostal Oliver is close enough, it is just around 10 minutes away from the venue (on foot). You just have to take the Gran Vía street and take a short walk.

If I were you, I would book it :)
I highlight in blue the venue and the hostal locations.
Every hostal/hotel you may find near the metro stations "Sol", Callao", "Gran Vía", "Santo Domingo", "Opera", "Noviciado" "Ventura Rodriguez" & "Plaza España" is close enough: this area is the downtown of the city.

"Taxi: There are taxi stops at the four terminals in the arrival area. The approximate cost between Barajas Airport and Madrid and the center of Madrid (Puerta del Sol for example) usually is about 20€ PLUS THE 4.50€ airport tax. Luggage and companion animal (in proper travel case) transport is always free. It is recommended not to go with strangers that sometimes offer services from inside the airport. The taxi fare is always indicated on the taxi meter in the cab, and it is unadvisable (and illegal) to make a deal on a “closed price” with the taxi driver. The trip between the airport and the city center can vary between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic and the time of day. The taxi is the most comfortable transportation between the airport and the city center, especially when travelling with luggage and not knowing how to arrive at one’s destination".
